As we approach the extended weekend let us reflect on the significance of the up and coming federal holiday. Some of us may know the day merely as the Monday off at the end of May. Or perhaps you refer to it as the kickoff to the summer season. Once referred to as Decoration Day it is a day to remember dead members of the armed forces of all wars. So whatever you do this weekend be safe, have fun and a take a moment to remember what this time is really about.
Here is a collection of photographs I’ve been working on for the past month. This project was dedicated to practicing close-up photography with a variety of materials, cameras and subjects. Please enjoy the slideshow and feel free to leave comments.
Reblogged from Out of the Lens Photography:
I will take a photo of practically anything. If I think about it I probably have. I am not a purist at all. I very, very rarely post the photo as is or straight out of the camera (SOOC). It would have to be flawless and I am my worst critic. On occasion I have come across some of my photos that I’ve been thrilled with and done just that but as soon as I start tweaking with the post processing it fires up my synapses in my brain and all hell breaks loose.
I found myself with a new use for my Nook Book. It’s one of those things you’ll either use or you won’t. I am traditionally a book person. I guess I crumpled beneath the enormous weight of the technology craze and eventually purchased one. Anyway, I’ve finally found a use for the device. Lately I’ve been turning blog posts from my favorite blogs into PDF files and transferring them onto the device. Sure, I could just read the blogs but I don’t have time. This method allows me to read them when I have the chance. And a huge bonus is that Nook saves my eyes a little bit. It doesn’t have that awful glare screen that most e-readers have. It uses a traditional newsprint output so sunlight and glare won’t cause issues with reading from the device. It also does not have a lot of bells and whistles which just keeps me focused on reading.
During this past weekend I came across an old post done by Joe McNally. I loaded it up on the device and read it during a train ride. This post felt so fitting to share with you all. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. You can find the original post here

Finally made it outside for a little bit and snagged another flower shot.
